Why is my pool vacuum not moving but has suction? ›

The Pool Cleaner Is Not moving

This is usually associated with suction problems caused by either a blockage or air in the vacuum hose. The first thing you want to do is to make sure that the water level in your pool is high enough that it covers the weir and return jets.

If your Kreepy Krauly is often stuck at one side of your pool there are two potential fixes. If the hose is too short then buy another line and have it extended out enough to cover the pool. On the other hand, if it is constantly being coiled then relaxing it or changing how you keep it stored will fix that problem.

Improper Hose Length: Excess length can cause the hose to tangle and make it impossible to untangle itself with its swivels. How to fix it: While the hose is connected, walk around to the farthest point of your pool. The hose end should be within six inches – longer or shorter – of the farthest point.

A clogged basket or dirty filter are the two main causes for a sluggish suction side cleaner. Another potential problem is an air leak in the cleaner hose or the pump. Worn footpads or seals can also reduce cleaner speed and cause it to stick to the pool floor.

Make sure that the "shoes" are not worn out and that the surface of the pool is not slippery because of an algae buildup. Also make sure you have the correct “shoes” for the surface of your pool. The right shoes are standard/slotted for plaster and Pebble-Tec; cork for vinyl and fiberglass; and ceramic for tile.

If the pressure is low, it's usually going to be the pump basket is full of debris, the impeller is clogged on the pump, or the filter is dirty. Once you get those squared away, the suction should return you should be able to vacuum.

A robotic cleaner requires a little maintenance to prolong its lifespan. When the cleaner is not being used, it needs to be removed from the water, cleaned off, and stored in a cool space. Another thing to consider is, if a robotic vacuum needs to be repaired, the cost will be higher.

From my years of service, I'd say that a well-maintained pool robot should last you anywhere from 5 to 7 years. If you're taking good care of your machine! Regularly removing the cleaner from the water, cleaning out the filter basket and storing in between workouts can greatly extend your pool robot cleaner's lifespan.

When you notice your pressure pool cleaner not moving the first thing to do is to check the booster pump. The booster pump should be on and the filter pump should also be running at the same time. Check this and also make sure that the cleaner has about 30 psi to operate.
